Describing the economic situation in Ukraine, the majority of world experts call it challenging. This is not surprising, because the development of democracy, the establishment of political relations and market economy in our country is continues only a little over twenty years. In most developed countries, this process had continued for several decades and also was not absolutely easy, painless, and devoid of mistakes. In our country a large number of human mistakes is permitted now, the wrong tactical and strategic decisions are made at the enterprise level and the whole state; there is a shortage of investment resources and modern technologies.
But the world-renowned economists note the significant improvement of the socio-economic situation of the country over the past several years.
Thus, the World Economic Forum, published the Competitiveness Index 2011-2012 rankings, placed Ukraine on the 82 positions out of 142 surveyed countries. This is not very good result, but it is 7 positions better than a year ago. Only few other countries showed such a large improvement in the competitive position in the global market within a year.
The most of the branches of the economy of Ukraine demonstrates a similar situation on the background of a difficult situation as a whole the sufficient rates of growth of production are observed. Thus, the volume of industrial output in 2011 increased for 7.3%, the volume of agricultural production by 17.5%, the building sector for 7.4%.
In spite of existing problems and the negative influence of the global economic crisis, many branches of the economy are still profitable. Moreover, the profitability of the major economic sectors increases every year (it is shown on the diagram). This is partly the result of successful investments, partly the result of appropriate management decisions, increasing of education of employees, using of advanced and modern foreign technologies. On the positive side is that the trend of development is constant, not hopping. This indicates the stabilization of the economy in general, the completion of the active phase of the restructuring of economic sectors. This makes it possible to make the enough believable forecasts and plans for economic development of the country and the enterprises to avoid a large number of business risks.
Last year, the import and exports of different goods were increased for more than 30 %. The trade relationships between Ukraine, neighboring countries and CIS countries were activated. The large amounts of investment resources were put into this industry. All this proves not only the improvement of the condition of the national economy, but also the increasing of the level of the trust in Ukrainian companies of foreign partners, the improvement of their investment image.
It can be noted a steady increase of both nominal and real wages of the labor. This is a positive phenomenon, because it causes the growth of the domestic market of consumption. This is evident in a substantial increase of the retail trade. It has to be noted that around 1/3 of turnover crouches on the spontaneous markets, what indicates the great potential of development of a network of different supermarket stores.
Thus the following conclusions can be made:
- The economic situation in Ukraine a bit worse than in the most European countries;
- The economic situation in the country is steadily improving over the past few years;
- The risks associated with doing business are continually reduced;
- The profitability of the main production is increased from year to year, it becomes fewer unprofitable enterprises
